ACEN 10008 Essentials of Biomedical Informatics is an online class for medical students at the Medical College of Wisconsin, inspired by my professional interests. In the spirit of open science, and with the ambition to reach a wider audience, I will share my course content in this space, under a Creative Commons license (BY-SA).

The original plan for this course was to provide the student with an overview of biomedical informatics (BMI), an interdisciplinary field that studies and pursues the effective uses of biomedical data, information, and knowledge for scientific inquiry, problem solving, and decision making, driven by efforts to improve human health. Because of recent modifications (going from a 12-week to a 4-week block), the course is mostly focused on using observational data under the OMOP common data model, which can be applied to various clinical datasets (like N3C and All of US).
